WordPress Permissions
Jan 2, 03:03 PM
I was helping my friend Wayne upgrade to WordPress 2, and it soon became clear that WordPress would like the webserver to have write permissions on a number of files. Our webserver is set to only have read permissions on the web area by default (for security reasons), so these permissions had to be changed by hand. In case you find yourself in a similar predicament, here are the list of directories that WordPress would like to have write permissions (and their contents).
- wordpress/wp-content
- wordpress/wp-content/cache
- wordpress/wp-content/themes
- wordpress/wp-content/uploads
- wordpress/wp-content/plugins
